Four essentials for building a brand identity

Creating a distinct brand identity allows you to surprise and delight your target audience while standing out from the crowd, on the shelf or online. When your identity stands out from the crowd, it draws people in, sparks conversations, and creates a recognisable brand that people remember.

A logo

First things first, there must be a logo. This is a graphic that represents your brand through words, an icon, or a combination of the two. It doesn’t have to be a literal representation of what you do, but it should be easily identifiable.

Top tip: Make sure your logo works in black and white, this will make it easily transferrable across different mediums!

Colour palette

Colour conveys a lot of meaning, making it an effective tool for conveying your brand’s personality, appealing to your ideal audience, and communicating your message. We would recommend choosing no more than 3 core colours to create a cohesive and consistent palette.

Tone

Think of your brand as a person, think about the people who use your product and how they present themselves, to put it simply your brand needs a personality. The tone of voice for your brand should be distinct, recognisable, and one-of-a-kind.Font

The font communicates something to the customer even before they read the message in your marketing. Each font conveys a distinct message.

For a professional, corporate look, use a single, simple, minimal sans-serif font. For luxury products, stylized sans-serif fonts are popular. For a youthful, fun font, use thick, rounded sans-serif fonts. For a trustworthy feel, use a single traditional serif font.

Images

imagery is a major part of your brand identity when it comes to communicating your vision, values, and voice. Setting a direction for your photography and videography will help you establish your identity and communicate your brand in a clear and powerful manner – especially in a world where social media is so big.

Once you’ve met these five pillars, you’re packaging will basically create itself! If you still aren’t sure where to start, check out our bespoke boxes on our fabulous inspiration page or contact us for a custom quote.
